Splash Learn

 Splash learn

This is a website that I personally find it the most interactive and attractive website for the students to practice their Mathematic. Most importantly, it is totally FREE!! How can it be? But really it is FREE and SAFE to be used.

The teacher is able to create an account and assign the work to her students. The website provides curriculum from K-stage to Grade 5. Furthermore, I am able to assign differentiated worksheet to the students based on their proficiency level and receive their results immediately. This allows me to monitor my students' progression easily.

Other than the work assigned by the teacher, the students are able to play the revision games on the website. The games cover all stages of Maths topic that the students should master in his/her level.

Practices

For all works and games the students played, they will be awarded the equivalent amount of start where later they could trade the star with animals they like to decorate their own aquarium and jungle. After completing a sub-topic, they will also be rewarded with a random present.

After surveying and trying out so many websites, this is the best I came across and will use it with my class until I found a website with a similar function for their curriculum. But, I think Math's curriculum is mostly the same so it doesn't bother for me right now.

Work from home Day 2 Part III

Year 6

Since the Checkpoint examination is around the corner, I will have to practice the vocabulary with the students weekly, and today is the day where we have a Spelling test. I searched and go through lots of websites and finally, I found this website which is very suitable.

Spelling Training

This website allowed me to create my own spelling list or select the list from the theme given.

It will read out the words for you and would provide a helping sentence for students. So if there are homophone (Words with the same sound but different spelling), the students can read the sentence and identify which word is being tested.

It also has the capitalization features, so if the students could also practise their capitalization while reading the helping sentence. Of course, you may turn it off depends on your students' capability.

Work from home Day 2 Part II

Year 3

For my lovely year 3, I always play games with them in the class either using the computer or hand made materials, therefore, I am going to continue my way of teaching through online.

Since we stopped at Apostrophes in the lesson, I am going to do a short recap with them by showing a Youtube video to them.

After that, they will be playing the game which requires not only their knowledge about Apostrophes but also their thinking skill in achieving the correct answer.

Work from home Day 2

Yesterday, I have spent hours to go through the useful website I saved since I started my Uni. Found some interesting and interactive websites that I would like to share with my students since a long time ago. However, it is hard for me to use it in school as we only one computer in the classroom and it will be very time consuming and ineffective but now since students were learning from home, I could share all the websites with them and promote "Learning through Playing" to them.

Let share the lesson plan I had for today.

Year 2
I found this website features with all kinds of games from Grade1 to 6 (UK Year 1 to 6), I have decided to start our revision with Conjunctions, something that the students had learned but still unfamiliar with. The best thing about this website is that it has a variety of activities from learning to practising to applying it in sentences, I could monitor the students' progression by seeing which level they are at. However, it would be better if I could know which question the students make mistakes or struggling with.

Working from home Day 1

Since the Coronavirus cases are fluctuating in our country, the government has decided to lock down the country. With no other choices, we, teachers have to pick up online teaching within 24hours. For the first day, I decided to let it go and prepare more time for myself to get ready with it. Therefore, the students were asked to complete the worksheets given before we closed the school.

Sudden attack!!!

17th March 2020

Today is the last day of school before the lockdown of the whole country due to Covid-19. We, teachers, were so busy preparing for the following two weeks' lessons. I thought I would have enough time to prepare for my classes but then I was given a cover lesson in the middle of my three free periods. Screw it!! Luckily, I manage to finish my printing by the last minute before school ends.

Looking at the surrounding, the teachers were all worried and busy preparing for the students so they could catch up in their study even though school close. But the students were all sad because they have to stay at home for 2 weeks, which mean, they will have no one to play with them. The kids were all asking me why can't they come to school. Feeling so proud and helpless at the same time, proud that our students enjoy school and like to come to school but helpless because we don't know what the parents would do to them in order to take care of them and their work at home the same time.

Hope everyone is staying at home and keep themselves hygiene during this emergency period.

Day 1

Starting this because I feel that I have experienced a lot of events and incidences in my first year of teaching and would really like to keep a record on it.
